Equine Facilitated Therapy course basic in Riyadh
Equine Facilitated Therapy (EFT) is a targeted rehabilitation approach applied by physical, occupational and speech therapists to treat most movement disorders in children and adults. The unique combination of 3D movement of the equine back, live equine and outdoor settings make the therapy well accepted and processed.
The Czech Equine Facilitated Therapy Association (CEFTA) was founded in 1991. Since then, we have organized comprehensive education programs for physical and occupational therapists, educators, social workers, psychotherapists and horse persons.
Course Equine Facilitated Therapy Basic has been running for almost 30 years. Equine Facilitated Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy is a very advanced treatment methods in our country. Our therapists know how to apply it with great benefit to their clients with various diagnoses.
Why our courses are exceptional?
We know that therapists need to know how to apply the method in their clinics apart from the theory. Therefore we emphasise hands-on skills on the practical part. Our mission is that our participants can immediately start practising at home after completing the practical week and get a complete package of knowledge and skills.
How does the course work?
E-learning (7 weeks, in English)
You will get a username and password to access the e-learning (Moodle platform). Every week will be open a new lecture for self-study. During this period, we will be online to answer your questions via email in English or Arabic. There are 5 tasks of homework to submit.
Practical part (5 days, English with Arabic translation)
Equestrian stables in Riyadh, KSA.

The course is limited to 12 participants due to ensure an individual approach.

Who can attend: This course has been designed for physical, occupational and speech therapists and speech-language pathologists.
Horsemanship skills: It is highly recommended to have a minimum of essential experience in equine handling and care. Part of the final exam is submitting a video of a dressage test at walk and trot. If the participant does not have these skills, needs to gain it at own expences and time. Horsemanship skills are essential premises to conduct safe and productive treatment session!
Course duration: 100 hours of theory via e-learning and 40 hours of practice in an equestrian centre in Riyadh, KSA.
Final exam: before the final exam, a participant is requested to attend the practical part, submit all pieces of homework, a case study, and submit a video to demonstrate horseback riding skills.
The final exam is in the form of an online, multiple-choice test.
Certificates of completion:
The CEFTA will credit the Certificate with 140 CME hours.

What you will learn
The course focuses on gaining theoretical and practical skills for performing Equine Facilitated Therapy (EFT, formerly hippotherapy)
The participants will learn:
- The principle of the equine movement affects human systems.
- Neurodevelopmental milestones and possible positioning of the client on the equine.
- Treatment standard for most common diagnosis.
- Appropriate methods of equine handling during EFT.
- Selection and use of EFT equipment for the equine and client.
- All factors contribute to safety in the EFT session.
- Client selection for EFT, including specific contraindications and precautions.
- Client evaluation and treatment planning.
Potential emergencies and appropriate procedures.
- EFT team members - roles.
- Documentation, record keeping.
- Equine skills and knowledge - body language”, anatomy and physiology, the desirable conformation and qualities of the equine movement.

The price does not include transportation, accommodation, breakfasts and dinners.
The Czech Equine Facilitated Therapy Association (CEFTA) reserves the right to adjust program dates, times and lecturers to accommodate unforeseen circumstances; we will only notify advanced registrants of any program changes. CEFTA is not responsible for any expenses incurred by registrants due to such adjustments.
CEFTA reserve the right to cancel a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances up to 2 weeks before the start of the course. The course fee, including the administrative fee, will be returned to the participant's bank account within 2 weeks.
If a participant wishes to cancel, cancellation notices must be provided in writing from participants up to 2 weeks before the course start date to receive a refund minus a 100 EUR administrative fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received within two weeks before the start of the course.
Any transfer fees will be charged on behalf of the participant. In case of any additional fee charged to the CEFTA, the amount will be requested from the participant.
